Editorial Cientifica
Open Access Policy
Editorial Cuadernos de Sofía SPA (RUT: 77.649.795-9, First Category Company recognized by the State of Chile and registered with the Chilean Book Chamber) is committed to open access as a fundamental publishing model, inspired by the legacy of Juan Guillermo Estay Sepúlveda and his vision of democratizing academic knowledge.
Commitment to Open Access
Editorial Cuadernos de Sofía publishes all its academic books under open access, guaranteeing the free and immediate availability of each work in PDF format from the moment of publication. Users may read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of books and chapters published by this press, without requiring prior permission from the publisher or the author.
This commitment is in accordance with the definition of open access established by the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI), which promotes the free and unrestricted availability of peer-reviewed scientific literature, with the aim of accelerating research, enriching education, and laying the groundwork for uniting humanity in a shared intellectual conversation.
Publication License
All books and chapters published by Editorial Cuadernos de Sofía on its portal https://books.cuadernosdesofia.com are disseminated under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license. Under this license, authors retain 100% of their copyright and authorize any user to:
- Share: copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format.

Publication Formats and Distribution
Each book is published in multiple open access digital formats — PDF, EPUB3, and HTML — hosted on our Open Monograph Press (OMP) platform at https://books.cuadernosdesofia.com, with a guaranteed minimum hosting period of 10 years, renewable.
Authors may additionally opt for print-on-demand for physical distribution through Amazon KDP, Ingram, and libraries. This option complements open access without restricting it: the book remains freely available in its digital versions at all times.
Persistent Identifiers and Metadata
Each book is assigned a DOI (Digital Object Identifier) through our Crossref membership, with the option of individual DOIs per chapter. All records incorporate metadata in Dublin Core format, compatible with ORCID, and comply with the FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable), ensuring the traceability, citability, and discoverability of each publication within the global academic ecosystem.
Interoperability and Metadata Harvesting
Editorial Cuadernos de Sofía implements the OAI-PMH protocol (Open Archives Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting) through the OMP platform, enabling automated collection of its content by academic distribution and indexing systems. This facilitates the appearance of our publications in databases such as Google Scholar, Crossref, DOAB, Web of Science Book Citation Index, ProQuest, EBSCO, and more than 3,200 libraries worldwide.
DOAB Indexation
Editorial Cuadernos de Sofía is indexed in the Directory of Open Access Books (DOAB), one of the leading international repositories for open access academic books. This certification, achieved in 2025, confirms that our publications meet the quality, peer review, and openness standards required by the global academic community, and are recognized by funding agencies such as Horizon Europe, NIH, ANID, and FONDECYT.

Our publishing model is compatible with the main open access mandates of international funding agencies, including:
