The Role of Environmental Context and Attitudes in Higher Education Study Techniques
Synopsis
The environmental context is the space where organisms develop their lives, constantly fostering interaction with it; it comprises living beings, objects, and elements created by humans. The environment is one of the factors that influences individuals’ mood and their attitudes toward the challenges they face during their academic training. Therefore, choosing appropriate spaces when applying effective study techniques becomes crucial, as these directly impact academic performance.
Higher education demands high levels of concentration, autonomy, and discipline. Consequently, it is essential to analyze how environmental factors condition learning habits and the possibilities of academic success. A descriptive study with a quantitative approach and a non-experimental transactional design was conducted. A study techniques questionnaire focusing on the categories of place and general attitude was applied using Google Forms. The sample consisted of 69 higher education students.
The main findings indicate that students do not always study in the same place, their study environment is not free from noise, although it generally has adequate lighting. This study examines the relationship between the student’s physical and social context and the attitudes they adopt toward their educational process, considering that these variables have a significant impact on the construction of effective study strategies.
